Minago Booth at PDAC Mining Conference

FEBRUARY 28, 2025. NHCN has purchased the Minago nickel platinum group elements project which is the first resource asset in Canada that is 100% owned by a First Nation and is looking for strategic partners. Chief Larson Anderson states that “By taking full control with 100% ownership and management, we can drive this project forward, focus on the environment, maximize employment and build economic opportunities for our people.”

Participating at the PDAC conference gives NHCN the opportunity to engage in conversations with attendees to discuss the opportunities this mining project presents. We are looking for strategic partners who want to take this journey with us. We have built a strong leadership team with expertise ranging from business development and geology to drilling and mining. We have already begun training programs to ready the community for job opportunities.

Some quick facts about the project:

  • The Minago site is in the central region of the Thompson Nickel Belt

  • Adjacent to provincial highway #6 and a 230KV hydro power line

  • Environmental permitting is being finalized

  • Exploration drilling has defined as a measured and indicated mineral resource of 43.33 million tonnes grading 0.72% Ni, 0.20 g/ Pd, and 0.09 g/t Pt. The inferred resource is 9.20 million tonnes grading 0.86% Ni, 0.16 g/t Pd, and 0.07 g/t Pt.

  • The 111 million tonnes of dolomite covering the nickel deposit has a 10-12% Magnesium (Mg) content

  • The Minago deposit has not been fully explored, remaining open at a depth and along strike and 8 additional target zones remain to be drilled off

The project will be developed in the most environmentally sustainable manner possible. It will be a low carbon mine site that maximizes the extraction of value from the mineral deposit and from the waste products with minimum emissions to air, water, and land.

Chief Larson goes on to say, “We are developing projects that protect the environment while creating wealth and a brighter future for the people of Norway House Cree Nation and surrounding communities.”
